Live Review: Thrash And Burn Tour - May 15th 2009

The latest mega tour to hit the UK starts with a whole hearted dark and heavy affair. Success Will Write Apocalypse Across The Sky burst onstage and turn Birmingham on its head. For a relatively unheard band to most of the people in the audience, the leave tonight with a lot more fans that the four who sing along with every word of their short but sweet set.

Arsonists Get All The Girls take the torch from SWWAATS and run. Not for one moment does this band stand still. Members bouncing onstage like hyperactive children. They bring a party atmosphere to a show that would normally be in danger of being too serious for its own good. Another band that’s slot is too early for the amazing performance they put in.

War From A Harlots Mouth run through the motions. They may have been hindered by their guitarist being hospitalized with a back injury, but WFAHM still get onstage and play for a crowd who seem to be popular amongst the younger sections of the crowd. Playing a mixture of songs from their first full length album and their latest release, they leave the crowd sitting on the fence about their set.

Bleeding Through, one of tonight’s co headliners do the same as WFAHM and plod through a set they normal would storm. Most of their set being made up of songs from recent 'Declaration' album with older hits such as Love Lost In A Hail Of Gunfire. BT rarely have off nights, but tonight they seem to be pacing themselves and don’t pack the punch they normally do.
