Live Review: Misery Signals - September 24th 2009

The Number 12 Looks like You start the show with a completely instrumental set. This is due to their front man being diagnosed with Swine Flu and being fast asleep backstage. Their technical musicianship sounds great if not a little empty without vocals. The crowd supports them and shows their appreciation for continuing the show a member down.

Your Demise are on their first tour with new vocalist Ed and the crowd seem appropriately excited for their return to the stage after having to cancel their slot at Glasgow Metalfest. Starting the set with Black Veins taken from debut album 'Ignorance Never Dies', the room instantly blows up. Playing songs from the album and their earlier EP’s, they send the crowd crazy. Front man Ed barely needs the microphone with the amount of people shouting the words back at him. Ending with their biggest hit to date Burnt Tongues and a surprise appearance of Karl from Misery Signals on vocals is the perfect way for them to end their set.

Misery Signals have gained a lot of fans in the UK thanks to their last UK tour with Architects. This time they are headliners and it's good to see that a healthy sized crowd has turned up to see them. Their melodic hardcore is on a wave of glory at the moment with bands such as It Prevails and For The Fallen Dreams both hitting UK soil this year. Playing songs from all three of their releases, Misery Signals put all their heart into the show and the crowd responds with sheer mayhem. People climb on top of each other to get hold of the microphone put into the audiences face by front man Karl. The band are obviously happy with tonight’s show, leaving the stage with huge smiles on their faces, and rapturous applause from the audience. Misery Signals can only go on to bigger and better things globally, as soon as they release a new album, expect big things!
