MPM Meets...Cold Summer

Cold Summer have certainly been busy bees. With a strong DIY ethic, these boys from Wakefield have put their fingers in all the pies. This year saw them self-release their own album and support Funeral For A Friend live in their home town, and it's led us to the conclusion that there's nothing they can't do. I'd keep an eye on Cold Summer if I were you...

Album Review: Rise Against - Long Forgotten Songs

Rise Against's 'Long Forgotten Songs: B-Sides & Covers 2000-2013' is everything you'd expect it to be. But that's not a bad thing.

First track Historia Calamitatum is powerful, catchy and dripping with attitude. The same can be said for Death Blossoms - whether you're the dance-at-the-back-by-the-bar type or someone who throws themselves headfirst into the moshpit, you'll love it. It's even got that typical breakdown for the crowd to chant along. Brilliant.

News: Rise Against to release 'B-sides and covers' album

Rise Against will release 'Long Forgotten Songs: B-Sides & Covers 2000-2013' on September 9th through Interscope Records.

Vocalist Tim McIlrath says: “In the last thirteen or so years Rise Against has put out six records, each one we are proud to put our name on. But we are just as proud of these 26 songs that slipped through the cracks and never ended up on any of our full lengths. In various ways, most of these songs saw the light of day at some point, but we thought we would spare you the digging and put them all on one record.”

You can find a teaser clip on, and pre-order offers will begin on July 30th.

New Video: Brand new Boysetsfire video, Closure

Closure, taken from the next studio album, 'While a Nation Sleeps...', which will be released on June 7th.

And here's some good news: from now on, you can preorder 'While A Nation Sleeps...' on iTunes. Better yet, you'll get Closure straight away, which will get you through the wait until June 7th when you'll get the rest! But that's not all, the iTunes version also comes with a digital booklet and 2 bonus acoustic songs.

News: Architects set for a US-only reissue of 'Daybreaker'

Yep, that's right. After spending four months on a world tour, including China, South America and Australia, Architects will be reissuing 'Daybreaker' with some brand new material on June 11th (in the US). The album will feature brand new single Black Blood, and two covers: Of Dust and Nations by Thrice and Blood Bank by Bon Iver.

With regards to the new single and reissue, Tom Searle, guitarist, says: "We've always released songs between albums basically just to keep our set fresh! We did it first with We're All Alone, then with Devil's Island and now with our new single Black Blood. We also recorded a cover of Bon Iver's Blood Bank and Thrice's Of Dust And Nations. They're going to be available in the US on June 11th, just before our long summer on the Vans Warped Tour but unfortunately our label don't deem it worthwhile for a release anywhere else. Not even in UK before our appearance on the mainstage at Download Festival. They won't even release it digitally. Anywhere. So - after the songs are released on June 11th - if anyone happens to find the song in their possession and they accidentally upload it and share a link on their facebook or twitter etc......well - lets just say we won't be pressing charges."

The band will be holding their '100 Days' film premier on June 8th at the Duke of Yorks @ Komedia on Jubilee Street, Brighton  at 4pm.

They'll also be playing main stage at Download Festival on June 14th.

News: BoySetsFire 2013 announcement...

BoySetsFire are set to release a new album and tour dates soon, but until then, they have this to say:

BoySetsFire has been a band for nearly two decades. In that time we have played hundreds of shows to anyone that would watch us, from basements to festival audiences. We lived through the terror of rap-rock, the tyranny of nu-metal, and the dark days of pop-punk. We were around before the internet. Truth. We made demo tapes. We have recorded 4 LPs, EPs, CDs, and even a Cassingle. We have played Rookie over 1,000 times. We have fallen off more stages than most people have stood on.  We have been signed and dropped and signed and dropped. Frankly, most would have given up years ago."
