Live Review: NATIVES - March 22nd 2014

The night is kicked off pretty promptly by Fans of Faye, a five-piece from Birmingham. Despite being a small, local band with under 1000 followers on Twitter, they sound polished - they don't miss a beat or hit a bad note. They definitely know what they're doing, and they're having fun doing it. Fans of Faye are one to watch.

Album Review: NATIVES - Indoor War

I don't know about you, but I love hearing an album that makes me want to dance. 'Indoor War' is one of those albums. I was dancing so hard, in fact, that I could barely write this review.

War Inside of Me is a great opener for the record, and really sets the scene for the story that the album tells (about a character called Alvima who, after suffering a huge loss, decides to live his life making decisions based upon logic and science rather than emotions). It's short, powerful, and serves as a good kick for the next tracks.

Scarlet Letter Rhymes, from upcoming album 'Shapes of Screams', will be released on April 7th. The album, produced by Dan Weller (Enter Shikari, Young Guns), will be released on the same date via Graphite Records.

Front man Steven Battelle explains, "I wrote Scarlet Letter Rhymes whilst submerged under water in a hotel swimming pool in Finland. I fleshed it out in a dream where I was the captain of a flying pirate ship caught in some turbulence and crashed into another time. When I awoke I found lying next me a book first published in 1850 called the Scarlet Letter. The video has absolutely nothing to do with any of this other than its chaotic interpretation of the riffonomics within."

The band will be performing a UK tour throughout April with support from Verses and The First, dates after the jump!

News: Architects release video for 'Broken Cross'

Architects have released the video for Broken Cross from their upcoming album 'Lost Forever, Lost Together'. The album will be out on March 10th through Epitaph.

The band will be heading out on a UK tour in March, including a London KOKO show on March 14th (which sold out 3 months prior), and a recently announced hometown show for their album release at The Haunt in Brighton (which sold out in 240 seconds!). The band have also announced that they will be playing at this years Reading and Leeds festivals.

News: Slam Dunk Festival 2014 - first band announcement

The UK's biggest and best touring festival, Slam Dunk, is back for a 9th year! Once again, the festival will cover three days in three locations - Leeds University (Saturday 24th May), The Forum, Hertfordshire (Sunday 25th May), and Wolverhampton Civic (Monday 26th May).

This year's headliner will be The All American Rejects, who will be playing their only UK shows this year at Slam Dunk. The band are well known for their hit singles Swing Swing and Dirty Little Secret, and their four albums which have sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

Festival organiser Ben Ray says: "I am happier than ever to finally announce the lineup for this year’s Slam Dunk Festival. With such big hit singles, The All American Rejects are a massive headliner for us. I wanted a band who haven’t just toured the UK earlier in the year, or doing other dates around the festival so they are perfect to make the festival unique!

It’s taken me a bit longer to book this year, but really appreciate everyone’s patience and the belief that we will deliver the best event of the summer! There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes that the fans don’t see... bands are only allowed to play one, maybe two festivals in one country over the summer period, and with so many festivals fighting for bands, it’s gets difficult for all of us! It was so important to build on the massive success of last year’s events, I had a lot of sleepless nights! Midlands was especially a great last year as it was the first time we had done the 3rd day of the festival. Not only did it sell out but people were amazed to see the full festival site, including the roads closed off with stages in the middle of them in the city centre of Wolverhampton! Tickets go onsale at 9am Friday 14th Februaryso they are perfect for a Valentine’s gift to the one you love!”

News: Paramore release official video for 'Ain't It Fun'

Paramore are back with yet another fun-filled music video, this time with an aim: the most World Records set in a music video.

Not only did they achieve that record, but also several more, including "fastest time to unwrap a mummy", "most feathers caught in 30 seconds", and interestingly "fastest time to run backwards holding stuffed animals blindfolded for 30 feet". Riiight...

You can catch the new video here:

With One Last Breath will release their first album, 'The Fearless Ones', on April 14th through Small Town Records. They announced the news with a lyric video of the title track, which can be found below.

News: NATIVES announce their debut album

NATIVES have done well, considering they're yet to release 'Indoor War', due out on March 17th via Transmission Records.

They credit producers John Feldmann (who has worked with the likes of The Used, Panic At The Disco and Good Charlotte) and Brandon Paddock for helping shape their sound, turning demos into polished songs.

Jack Fairbrother, guitarist, says: “I think it’s fairly simple to write music which is instantly infectious, and I also think it’s equally simple to write music so personal that it reads like a diary and feels deeply profound. The challenge, I think, is to create music with layers, music which both sonically and lyrically is instantly accessible and infectious, yet has a depth and narrative which speaks to people in new ways with each listen. That was the aim with this album.”

The band will begin a UK tour in March, dates after the jump...

News: Comeback Kid release new album in March

We've all been on the edges of our seats waiting for a new record from Comeback Kid, and that time has finally come. Their sixth studio album, 'Die Knowing', will be released in-store and digitally on March 4th.

Of the in-your-face forthcoming release, front man Andrew Neufield says: “The goal with 'Die Knowing' was to really capture the best parts of our live show and put those elements into the album. Lyrically, it’s a reminder to stay hungry while carving your own path, living life to its full potential. This will be the biggest and heaviest sounding Comeback Kid album to date.”

News: Ice Nine Kills release new album, 'The Predator Becomes The Prey'

Today marks the release of Ice Nine Kills' third full-length album, and their first with Outerloop Records, 'The Predator Becomes The Prey'. The album has already hit the US iTunes rock top ten.

Vocalist Spencer Charnas says: "I 100% feel this is our best album to date because we struck the perfect balance between diversity and cohesiveness. While no two songs really sound alike, the album feels very much like one piece of art. Lyrically, the record is definitely angry, but it exudes a positive energy at the same time. Aggressive music can in fact be therapeutic as long as you use it as an outlet for your demons, not as a blue print for your actions."
